It is good to see that you are interested to become IPS Officer in future. To become IPS Officer, you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is conducted every year. The notification will b published in the month of February and eligible candidates may fill the application form online only. To apply for this examination, you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognized University. So there is no special subject is required to become IPS. You can choose any course in graduation to become IPS. After completing graduation you are eligible for UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is conducted in 2 stages, preliminary examination and Main examination, But firstly you have to cracked the preliminary examination, this examination is objective and there are 2 papers in this examination, if you cracked preliminary examination, then you are eligible for Main examination. First of all there is no exam as IPS exam. To become an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer one has to appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.
There is no specific subject required for IPS. Graduate from any discipline from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years, is eligible to apply for Civil Service Exam. The candidate must be an Indian National. There is certain prescribed Physical requirement for those applying for IPS. HEIGHT:- General Male-165cm and Female-150cm SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm CHEST:- Male-85cm and Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. The selection is through two stages of written exam:- -Preliminary Exam-CSAT-Civil Service Aptitude Test comprises of all objective type questions. -Civil Service Main Exam comprises of subjective type questions as per prescribed syllabus. One has to crack Preliminary Exam in order to be eligible for Civil Service Main exam and the final selection is through Personal Interview. i have chosen sociology and indian history from the optional subject ....................... i wanna last year question paper of those subject.................from where i can also get it And for general studys whos books will be helpfull to me........................ |

Eligibility to be an IPS Officer
1. Educational Qualification To be eligible for becoming an IPS officer, the candidate must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken every year by UPSC. 2. Age The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ ST candidates. The upper age limit is also relaxed in favour of Defense Services Personnel. 3. Other Eligibility Conditions These services involves decision making towards the internal security of the country and taking into account the sensitivity of the job, the aspirants have to be eligible under certain specific conditions as given ahead. 1. For IPS, the candidate must be a citizen of India. 2. For other services, a candidate must be either: a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Process to become an IPS officer To become an IPS officer one has to follow the below given steps: Step 1 As a first step the aspirant has to procure the “Application Form” along with “Information Brochure” from any of the “Head Post Offices or Post Offices” spread throughout the country and sent the filled Application form to: The Secretary Union Public Service Commission Dholpur House New Delhi - 110011. |
