The Central Defence Service physical Standard given Below:

>>Candidate age should be 16.5 to 19 years.

>>Candidate should be physically fit.

>>Candidate Eye sight should be 6/6.

>>Candidate should be mentally sound & healthy.

>>Weight of the candidate according to his /her height.

>>The height of Candidate must be 157 or above,it may differ in case of female.

The Acronym "CDS" stands for Combined Defense Services. The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Defense Services Examination every year for the selection of candidates in the following wings of Defense Services :

* Indian Militant Academy

* Naval Academy

* Air Force Academy

* Officer`s Training Academy

The Examination is conducted twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II in the months of February and September every year.

The CDS Exam is conducted through the following procedure :

CDS i.e Combined Defence Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice in a year for admission to Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force and Officer Training Academy.

Eligibility Criteria ::

Military Academy :: Degree(10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in any discipline of a recognized University and age should be between 19-24 years.

Air Force :: Degree(10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in any discipline with Mathematics and physics as compulsory subjects of a recognized University and age should be between 19-23 years.

Naval Academy :: B.Sc degree with Mathematics or Physics of a recognized University and age should be between 19-22 years. Even Engineering degree holders may also eligible.

Officer Training Academy :: Degree(10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in any discipline of a recognized University and age should be between 19-25 years.

Vision Standards ::

You should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye with or without glasses . Myopia should not be more than 3.5D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5D including Astigmatism . You must have good binocular vision. The colour vision standard will be CP-III . You should be able to recognise red and green colors .

Physical Criteria ::

Minimum Acceptable height is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and Chest should be well developed. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cms.

>>Qualification remains same for the Officer's Training academy but the age limit is 19-25 years .

>>For the Indian Air force ,mathematics and physics at 10+2 level is compulsory along with bachelor's degree .The age limit is 19-23 years.

2.Indian Naval academy :

>>Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from recognized university.
