I am sorry to say that you can't join C.I.D after passing 12th..

If you want to join C.I.D then you have to pass the graduation with minimum 50% marks with any stream from recognized university..

The C.I.D exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission..

Age limit for C.I.D is 21-27 year.

To become an CBI officer, you have to complete graduation min 55% marks from a recognized university.


Both male and female candidates are eligible to become an CBI officer but the candidate should be citizen of india.


The candidate age should be between 20 to 27 years. The age relaxation for sc/st and obc candidates.

CBI recruitment is conducted by SSC.

Eligibility to join CBI is candidate must have bachelors degree from a recognised university.

CBI recruits Sub-inspectors through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), which publishes its recruitment notice in Employment News and other leading dailies.

CBI also inducts officers in the ranks of Inspector of Police and above from the State and Union Territory Police forces on deputation. Non-police officers are also taken on deputation in CBI.

The age criteria is 20 years wheras, the maximum age limit is 27 years with relaxation of upto 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.

To become a CBI officer you need to sit for an exam which is conducted by UPSC. The full form of CBI is Combined Graduate Level Examination. For the post of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Central Bureau of Investigation this exam is conducted once a year.

The notification for this exam is generally published in the month of October in the Employment News. You can also check the official websites from time to time for any latest update.

CBI Officer Exam Criteria:-

• You need to be a citizen of India to sit for this exam.
  
• You should have an undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  
• At UG level you need to secure at least 50% of marks to be considered eligible.
  
• Your age should not be more than 25 years when applying for this exam. There is age relaxation for the reserved category candidates.

Scheme Of Examination:-

The exam takes place in three tiers:

• Written Examination
• Main Examination
• Personality Test /Interview

Physical Endurance Test (PET)/ Medical Examination is also conducted after the declaration of the result of the first tier exam. It is important to pass in this test as well to be considered for the CBI officer post.

For the exam mainly objective type questions in the form of multiple choice questions will come. In both the written exam same kind of questions will come. For the first tier you will get two hours and there will be four sections to complete. In the second tier exam there will be two sections of 200 marks total.

Areas of weightage for first tier exam: General Intelligence-Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude an dEnglish Comprehension.

In order to become CBI officer, you need to appear in Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by UPSC every year.

You can become SI (Sub-Inspector) in CBI if you crack these exams.

But first of all , you have to do graduation.

> You should secure at least 50% marks in graduation from any recognized University.

> Your age should not exceed 25 years.

The exam is conducted in three tiers,

>> Written Exam (MCQ questions generally)
>> Main Exam
>> Personality Test/Interview

After this, candidate has to undergo PET (Physical Endurance Test) /Medical Examination.

Tier 1 is of two tiers and the skills tested are :

> General Awareness

> Numerical Ability

Tier 2 is based just on English language and comprehension skills of the candidate.

Two different agencies conduct examinations to fill vacancies in CBI.

They are UPSC and SSC.

To become a group A officer in CBI, you must choose Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC and become an IPS officer.
