What is the procedure followed for doing Ph.D in English? Can you please send me the complete details on this as I am not really sure on what all we need to follow. It will be helpful if you can answer me soon as possible. Awaiting for the response.

To persue PhD in English you have to follow the given below eligibility criteria:
The minimum qualification required for PhD in English is that you must have done masters degree with minimum 55% and relaxation of 5% is given to reserved students. No age bar. If you have qualified NET/JRF exam then you need not to appear in any kind of entrance exam conducted by the particular University where you want to take admission. |

Procedure to apply for doing Ph.D in English:-
For admission you have to apply on a prescribed application format, when there is an admission notification. You need master's degree with at least 55% marks minimum to become eligible to apply. Admission is mostly based on merit according to you performance in entrance exam and interview. Also, your academic career will be taken into account. Just make sure you are well prepared for it. |

This course can take up to 6-7 years to complete. A Ph.D degree will enable you to become a systematic and disciplined researcher: it builds the foundation to the later research activity. Hence the real reason why you do Ph.D is because you want to be a researcher for the rest of your life.
A Master's degree is required to do Ph.D. You need to qualify the National Eligibility Test(NET) for lectureship conducted by the University Grant Commission. In order to pursue Ph.D in English course, you must have to follow the basic criteria required. In order to pursue Ph.D in English program, you must have completed Master's Degree in English or M.Phil from a recognized university. And besides this, you will have to appear in Entrance Examination for doing Ph.D in English course.
You must have to qualify either in Concerned college's Entrance Examination or NET National level entrance examination. To do Ph.D in English, you must have to gain a Masters degree in the relevant field from a recognised University. After that you must qualify in the UGC NET examination.
The eligibility criteria required to appear in the UGC NET examination is that a candidate must have completed Master's Degree course from a recognised University with 55% of marks. After successfully qualifying in the NET examination, you can take admission to study Ph.D in English in different Colleges. |
