What is the procedure followed for doing Ph.D in English? Can you please send me the complete details on this as I am not really sure on what all we need to follow. It will be helpful if you can answer me soon as possible. Awaiting for the response.

To persue PhD in English you have to follow the given below eligibility criteria:

The minimum qualification required for PhD in English is that you must have done masters degree with minimum 55% and relaxation of 5% is given to reserved students.

No age bar.

If you have qualified NET/JRF exam then you need not to appear in any kind of entrance exam conducted by the particular University where you want to take admission.

The Master’s Degree holder in English with a minimum of 55% marks from any recognized university or M.Phil holder in English are eligible to do PhD in English in India. The admission will be done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the PhD Entrance Examination and Interview. Various research topics are available in English, so you can choose the one in which you have more interest and your guide’s instruction. Candidates who have qualified NET/SET/GATE in the concerned subject will be exempted from the entrance examination. The PhD in English can be studied in many universities in India.

Procedure to apply for doing Ph.D in English:-

For admission you have to apply on a prescribed application format, when there is an admission notification.

You need master's degree with at least 55% marks minimum to become eligible to apply.

Admission is mostly based on merit according to you performance in entrance exam and interview. Also, your academic career will be taken into account. Just make sure you are well prepared for it.

This course can take up to 6-7 years to complete. A Ph.D degree will enable you to become a systematic and disciplined researcher: it builds the foundation to the later research activity. Hence the real reason why you do Ph.D is because you want to be a researcher for the rest of your life.
A Master's degree is required to do Ph.D. You need to qualify the National Eligibility Test(NET) for lectureship conducted by the University Grant Commission. Admission is based on the interview held before a month before the commencement of the semester for which admission is sought.
