Air Traffic Controllers are the highly trained professional who controls the flow of fighter, commercial, air bus or any other planes in the sky. They are responsible for the safe movement of aircrafts over the assigned airspace. They apply separation rules to separate the aircrafts which fly through the same airspace to avoid collision. This profession is of high responsibility as they are managing the challenging air traffic control system.

Qualifying Exam

To become an Air Traffic Controller, one should qualify the civil ATC exam conducted by Civil Aviation Authority. Those who qualify this exam should complete one year training at Civil Aviation Training College. There are different designations available for an Air Traffic Controller. Candidates who have completed the training at Civil Aviation Training College can join as Junior Executive. They will be promoted to the designation of Assistant Manager after getting two years experience as Junior Executive.

Who are eligible to apply?

Those who aspire to become an Air Traffic Controller should possess any of educational qualifications given below.

Engineering degree in Electronics, Tele Communication, Radio Engineering or Electrical with specialization in Electronics or any equivalent subject with minimum sixty percent marks

Master of Science degree with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, Radio Engineering or its equivalent as one of the subjects with minimum sixty percent marks

Candidates who possess any of these qualifications can write the civil ATC exam, if their age is between twenty one and twenty seven years. This exam comprised of a written test, voice test, personal interview and medical fitness test. Those who perform well in all stages will be selected for one year training at Civil Aviation Training College. One can become an Air Traffic Controller after the successful completion of the one year training.
