Difference between Prosthodontist and Periodontist
Prosthodontists are the dentists who are specialized in the treatment of tooth disorders. They repair the fractured teeth and replace it with permanent or removable fixtures. They also prescribe suitable medicines if needed. It is their duty to give suggestions on different aspects of dental care. Periodontists are the dentists who treat various gum disorders and the defects in its supporting bones. Even though they are specialized in the treatment of gum disorders, they also involve in cleaning and polishing the teeth for avoiding cavities. They are also responsible for conducting various cosmetic treatments to correct the deformation. Usually regular dentists refer patients to Periodontists as they are specialized in the treatment of gums and supporting bones.
Prosthodontist and opportunities
Prosthodontists can work in many several health care organizations like hospitals, nursing homes or clinics. They can set up their own health care centers or private clinics to treat patients having tooth disorders. They make use of prosthetic equipments to correct the deformation in jaws. They can work in ambulatory surgical centers and perform the role of a dental surgeon. Some of the Prosthodontists work in the Pharmaceutical industry to manufacture the drugs required for dental problems. Some others work in the firms which manufacture prosthetic appliances.
Periodontist and opportunities
Periodontists are very much needed in dental hospitals to conduct cosmetic surgery. Many reputed dental hospitals provide cosmetic surgery to the patients. Therefore the Periodontists can earn high salary and reputation by specializing cosmetic dentistry in dental hospitals. They can also work in several clinics and nursing homes. Those who are interested in private practice can start their own health care centers or clinics. Several sanatoriums and medical institutes also hire the service of Periodontists. Also, they can work in government health care departments if they want a government job.
