IES stands for the Indian Engineering Service entrance exam. This is a annual entrance exam which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

The age limit for the Indian Engineering Service is 30 years. However since you are Schedule Caste candidate, the age limit is relaxed by 5 years for you.

This makes it 35 years for the SC as well ST candidates. But despite that you are not eligible for the Indian Engineering Service as you will be crossing the age limit by the time examination will be conducted.

Let me explain it to you. To appear you must be less than 35 years old. Even if you are 35 years and 1 day old, you won't be considered for the Indian Engineering Service entrance exam.

The age is calculated as on the August 1 of examination year. Which means that if you want to appear in 2014, your age on August 1, 2014 will be considered. Since you will celebrate the 35th birthday in June, the age will be well over 35 years on August 1.

This is the reason why you are ineligible for the Indian Engineering Service. If you were borm after August 1, it would have been possible to appear for the Indian Engineering Service in 2014. But unfortunately now you can not appear for it.

IES Eligibility

1. You should have a under graduate Engineering degree.

2. There is no percentage criteria.

3. Should be 21 years old to apply.

4. Should not be more than 30 years old.

5. Age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC.

6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

You should better consider some other career option. Being a Engineering graduate, you are not eligible for any government exams since the age criteria will be an issue in 2014.

However if you have already completed the Engineering degree then better appply for jobs this year. Surely you can not apply for the Indian Engineering Service now, but Public Sector Undertaking is certainly possible.
