Which course to complete in graduation to become an IPS officer?
Hello Sir/Mam, It is my dream to become an IPS officer. So, I want to ask in which colleges in India or West Bengal (if any) I can complete my graduation? What are the possibilities? Can someone please suggest me the with the right information? Thank you!

The full form of IPS is Indian Police Services.
Eligibility criteria for entrance exam of IPS is: 1. You must be a bachelor's degree holder in any discipline. It clearly means that candidate can select any discipline of their choice in bachelor's degree. In other words, candidates from all discipline are eligible. College and stream do not matter, you just need to be graduate. 2. The age limit is 21-32 years. There is three years upper age relaxation to OBC and five years to SC/ST candidates. Stages of Civil Services examination: Preliminary examination. Mains exam. Personal Interview. |

IPS stands for Indian Police Services. UPSC conducts Civil Services examination for different services like IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc. The educational qualification required for this exam is that candidate must have done bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university. Final year graduation candidates are also eligible to apply for exam.
You should select a college in West Bengal which is UGC recognized or AICTE approved for technical courses and select your desired course. In final year of this course, you can apply for Civil Services exam if you have attained minimum age of 21 years. |

To become an I.P.S officer one have to appear and qualify in Civil Service examination conducted by UPSC.
The eligibility to appear in examination is candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The age limit to appear in examination is 21-32 years. So, you are eligible to pursue bachelor degree in any discipline of your choice. But, you must follow a proper strategy for preparation of examination as according to syllabus. You can complete any course in graduation to become an IPS officer.
Graduate candidate pursuing B.Tech, B.E, BSc, BA, B.Com, BCA or any graduation course is eligible for appearing in Civil Services exam. This exam is conducted for recruitment to IPS, IAS, IFS, and other prestigious posts. If you are in final year of your graduation, then also you can appear for Civil Services Exam. You need to qualify three stages for becoming IPS Officer.

There is no need to pursue graduation in any particular field to become an IPS officer. You can pursue graduation course in any field of your interest to become an IPS officer. Candidates who have passed Bachelor's degree course in any discipline from a Government recognised university and those who are in the age range of 21 to 32 years are eligible to apply for an IPS examination.

I.P.S ( Indian Police Service) and for recruitment candidates have to appear ad qualify in all three stages of Civil Service examination conducted by UPSC
The eligibility to appear in examination is candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any stream from a recognised university. There is no limitation on discipline of bachelor degree or aggregate in bachelor degree to appear for examination. So, you can pursue any course of your choice. Even candidates are free to select the optional paper for Mains examination other than bachelor degree paper. To qualify in examination some of the most important factor is one need to be consistent, dedicated and devoted towards preparation for examination according to syllabus. First and foremost to start preparation of examination is to go through NCERT books of Std VI-XII ( Science, Social Studies ). IPS stands for Indian Police Services. The academic requirement for this service is bachelor's degree from a recognized university. UPSC clearly mention in its notification of Civil Services exam that all graduation stream candidates are eligible for this exam.
Neither percentage nor stream nor college holds any extra importance. If you are graduate with minimum of passing percentage of marks, you can apply. This means that you can pursue bachelor's degree in any stream from any college. Minimum age limit to apply for exam is 21 years. |

IPS refers to Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer you need to qualify Civil Services examination held by UPSC.
--> Further the basic qualifications required for appearing in the same examination are as here under : * You must have the citizenship of India. * Your age must lie in between 21 years to 32 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per the government norms. * You must have either completed your graduation degree or must be in the final year of same degree course in any discipline from any recognized university. So as far as you are concerned about the selection of college to pursue graduation degree for becoming an IPS officer then it does not matters unless your university is approved by UGC. You can pursue your bachelor's degree from any recognized college of West Bengal to appear for Civil Services exam. The basic academic criteria is bachelor's degree in any stream. But generally, arts stream are preferred by candidates. You can select arts stream subjects like History, Geography, Political Science, Economics.
The age limit for general category candidates is 21-32 years. OBC candidates get upper age relaxation of three years and SC/ST candidate get five years. You can start your preparation from first year of bachelor's degree. |

There is no any restriction in subject selection. If you want to achieve your dream you have to do hard work with proper consistency and determination.
UPSC conducts Civil Service examination examination every year for recruitment as an I.A.S, I.P.S, I.F.S etc. The eligibility to appear in examination is candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The age limit to appear in examination is 21-32 years with relaxation in upper age limit for reserved category. So,you can pursue your bachelor degree from any college in course to appear in examination. The examination is conducted in three stages as Preliminary, Mains and Interview.
