College and stream do not matter, you just need to be graduate.

2. The age limit is 21-32 years. There is three years upper age relaxation to OBC and five years to SC/ST candidates.

Stages of Civil Services examination:

Preliminary examination.

IPS stands for Indian Police Services. UPSC conducts Civil Services examination for different services like IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc. The educational qualification required for this exam is that candidate must have done bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university. Final year graduation candidates are also eligible to apply for exam.

You should select a college in West Bengal which is UGC recognized or AICTE approved for technical courses and select your desired course. In final year of this course, you can apply for Civil Services exam if you have attained minimum age of 21 years.

IPS refers to Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer you need to qualify Civil Services examination held by UPSC.

--> Further the basic qualifications required for appearing in the same examination are as here under :

* You must have the citizenship of India.

* Your age must lie in between 21 years to 32 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

So as far as you are concerned about the selection of college to pursue graduation degree for becoming an IPS officer then it does not matters unless your university is approved by UGC.
