A graduate in any stream can appear for the exam. This is provided that the candidate has passed the course from a recognised institute. A minimum of 50% in graduation is a must for applying for the course. Those who are in the final year can also apply. There is a condition that at the time of joining they need to have completed the course.

CAT stands for Common Admission Test. It is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. Not just IIM's but with the CAT Score you can also apply in various other top-notch B-Schools in our country. Since IIM is an autonomous institution therefore no other university will accept its score, but other private autonomous institution will.

It should be remembered that some seats are kept reserved for the following categories:- 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% of the total seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for the OBC candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer and lastly 3% seats for the differently-abled candidates.

To sit for the CAT exam you must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST/DA/PWD) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the ministry of HRD, Government of India.

If you are appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination or you have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results then also you can apply.

For the written exam there will be two sections- Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. From each seciton 30 questions will be asked and you will get 70 mins to complete each section.

You cannot choose a section to attempt first. The Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation section is presented first, followed by Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. There will be on-screen timer vailable for both the sections. Once the timer goes off you wont be allowed to return back to the previous section.

If you want to apply for this exam then from selected branches of Axis bank you need to get a scratch voucher and then register online at the CAT website. On choosing the date, you will need to choose the 10 a.m. session or the 3:30 p.m. session.

Top Colleges Which Accepts CAT Scores:-
  1. S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai
  2. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi

CAT is Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs for admission into MBA course.

IIMs and most of the top MBA colleges prefer CAT score for giving admission into MBA program.

Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks is the required qualification for CAT. Those who belong to reserved category will get relaxation of 5% marks and they need only 45% marks to appear for CAT.

Exam Pattern:

CAT is an online test and you have to answer objective type questions in the paper. The questions will be from following topics.

-Data Interpretation

-Quantitative Ability

-Verbal Ability

-Logical Reasoning

There will be negative mark for every wrong answer means you should attempt only those questions on which you have confidence otherwise you will lose marks.

The exam is divided into 2 sessions and seperate timings will be alloted to both sessions. You have to answer the questions in the given time for each session.
