In order to join IPS (Indian Police Service), the leading civil service in India, one should have to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

This exam is the entrance exam not only to be placed in IPS but also a common written exam to be placed in other civil services too like
-Indian Administrative Service
-Indian Revenue Service etc.

The selection procedure for this will be by
-Civil Services Aptitude Test
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

Here are the important dates regarding upcoming CSAT Exam.

-Date of commencement of notification : 04-02-2012
-Last date for the receipt of completed application forms : 05-03-2012
-Date of CSAT Exam : 20-05-2012

You should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university in order to be eligible for this exam.

As per age criteria, you should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam. Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.

So, I suggest you to apply for the exam first and have good preparation for General English, aptitude and general awareness which are a part of CSAT Exam.

Decide upon the optional subjects and carry out the preparation for Main Examination too simultaneously.

Firstly you must know that , the Indian Police Service([IPS) is primarily concerned with maintenance of Law and Order in the country. This is the premier uniformed civil service in the country. An I.P.S officer works for both the Central and State Governments.



One must prepare himself to perform his duty well.

For all such civil services exams it involves

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conduct Competitive Examination for filling vacancies in the Indian Police Service (IPS).

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:-

(a) Must be a citizen of India

Educational Qualification:-

A candidate must hold a degree of recognized University in any discipline .

> > The candidate’s age must be more than 21 years & less than 30 years of age.

Relaxation of age given to SC/ST /OBC category

> >The candidate must be physically fit.

IPS Exam Pattern:-

The Examination will comprise two components :

• Written Examination and
• Interview for Personality Test.
