Re: How to become an IPS officer while pursuing B.A 1st year
As you near to complete your graduation and after completing your graduation, you can attend this examination. Actually, any person who have completed Graduation with any of the steam from a recognized university can join this examination.
Even the candidates who are pursuing final year of graduation are also eligible for the same, but you should be able to show the proof of passing in graduation when appear for Interview. Now according to age matter you must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. And yes of course you are a citizen of India. You will need to get very high score in the written examination to be placed in as IPS. Otherwise you might be placed in other civil services. Keep this is in your mind and spend much more quality of time for study not the quantity of time. This examination is being conducted by UPSC that is Union Public Service Commission. |

Re: How to become an IPS officer while pursuing B.A 1st year
It is good that you want to serve the country by join Civil Service. I think you should definitely try for Indian Police Service. This is not an issue. You will get great opportunity to serve the nation and at the same time your salary would be great.
As you may know the role of Indian Police Service is related to law and order. IPS officers also take part is counter terrorism operations and plays major role in maintaining law and order during the riots. If you want to become IPS officer then start preparing for it now. Although you can only apply after completing graduation. It is important that you start preparing for the preliminary and main exams of the Indian Police Service. I should tell you that due to intense competition, it is not easy to clear the Civil Service Examination. Out of 10 Lakh who appear every year only 200-300 are selected. Therefore you need to work hard to get selected. You will have to study NCERT books for Class 12th to prepare for general studies papers. Read lots of newspapers and watch news as well. Since Civil Service Examination can be given only in English and Hindi, you must have good command over one language. In particular you must have good command over English to clear a paper on this subject in the main examination. Eligibility 1. Only Indian Citizens can apply for IPS. 2. The age limit is set at 21 to 30 years. 3. Although there is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 4. For SC/ST there is 5 years relaxation. 5. You must have graduation degree to appear for IPS Exam. 6. There is no percentage criteria. Exam Pattern 1) Preliminary Exam (2 papers) 2. Main Exams (9 papers) 3. Interview |
