Hello Aarti,
Basically there are two modes of entry in the police department. Either you may apply for police force of a particular state or may apply for Indian Police Service on national level.
Sine you are not a graduate yet, you won't be eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Sub Inspector or Sub Inspector in the police force of your state and neither you are eligible to apply for the Indian Police Service.

So, if you want to join the police department as an officer, you need to complete your graduation, in any discipline.
State level examination for recruitment of state police force is conducted by the public service commission of that particular state, whereas, recruitment of candidates in the Indian Police Service, also known as IPS is done through civil service examination conducted by union public service commission.

SORRY, you are not eligible for IPS on the basis of 12th, because only Graduate student with any discipline eligible for IPS exam,

I AM SORRY...if you are expecting for a higher post in indian police service you should have a minimum degree from a certified university.....with 12th qualification you cannot expect.... ALWAYS aim higher, try for a degree qualification through which you can get higher jobs.....ALL THE BEST

it is good to know that , you want to serve the nation by being a IPS officer. but you are not eligible yet for appear in this examination , as the minimum eligibility for appear in this exam is you must possess at least a graduation degree from a recognized college , what ever may the stream is .
so, you must have to complete your graduation from a recognized college.

IPS is the police service for which the admission is based on the exam conducted by UPSC .
To appear for the exam you need to satisfy certain requirements namely as follows.
1.A bachelor degree in any stream .The degree can be a three or four year course.
2.The age limit for appearing in the exam is maximum of 30 for a general category the relation for the aspirant of OBC category is 33.The upper limit for SC/ST aspirant is 35.
so you need to do a bachelor course after which you will be satisfying the requirement.
The selection process for the exam includes
1.written exam
2.physical test
3.personnel interview
The written includes aptitude and optional papers which you can choose based on your bachelor degree course so study your course with interest so that it will be helpful for you in examination

first you should finish your degree and proceed for IPS exam. You should write civil service exam after completion of your degree and based on marks you will be selected. Refer upsc.gov.in for details and you can also get model question papers..

If you want to become I.P.S office then you have to pass the graduation.

I.P.S exam exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Qualification:- Pass graduation with any stream fron recginiced university.

Age limit:-
For Open category:- 21-30 year
For OBC category:- 21-33 YEAR
For ST/SC category:- 21-37 year

IPS Exam Eligibility

For getting selected to the IPS, there are two types of eligibility. One is that you should be eligible for appearing for the IPS exam and the other is that after clearing the mains and while appearing for the physical tests during the interview stage you should meet all the physical and other requirements as mandated. Let's discuss these in detail.

There are no special requirements for appearing for the IPS exam as it is part of the Civil Services examination. So if you fulfill the criteria for civil services exams you, by default, qualify for IPS exams as well. To be eligible for the civil services exams:

You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age (various relaxations are available for different categories).
You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form.

Special requirement for IPS and IAS:

For these two services a candidate MUST be a citizen of India. Whereas for other services the citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who migrated to India after 1st January 1962, or persons of Indian origin from the countries mentioned in the notification can also apply.
Special Physical Requirements for IPS

As mentioned earlier candidates appearing for the personality test on clearing the civil services mains exam have to meet certain physical requirements to be eligible for IPS.

Minimum height of 165 cm for Men and 150 cm for Women (minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for Men and Women respectively in the case of candidates belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc.)
Min Chest girth fully expanded: 84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women. Expansion of 5 cm for Men and Women.
Total amount of Myopia (including the cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00 D and total amount of Hypermetropia (including the cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00 D
Presence of Squint is a disqualification

To become IPS Officer, You have to cracked the UPSC Civil services examination and to apply for this examination you need Bachelor degree in any discipline. So the vary first Option for you to complete your Graduation degree course and then you are eligible for Civil services examination because after completing your 12Th examination you cant eligible for Civil services.

The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various services like the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, as well as Group A and Group B Central Services. The Notification of the examination will be Published every year in the employment Newspaper and eligible candidates fill the application form Online only.
