Quote:
Must have completed graduation in any discipline. Must be within the age limit of 21-30 years. Must qualify Civil Service Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Now, no matter which stream you follow in your academic career, if you posses a bachelors degree and be within the aforementioned age limit, you will be eligible to write civil service examination for Indian Police Service. So, first of all, you should follow your higher studies in the field of your expertise. If you think you can do well in commerce, you must pursue your higher studies in the same. However, if you are more interested in the technical discipline, medicine etc, you can definitely go for science. Having done your higher studies in either of the two disciplines will not affect your preparation for the Civil Service Examination. If you see previous year results of the Civil Service Examination, candidates belonging to commerce stream, science stream, chartered accountants, engineers etc have been able to crack the civil service examination and it proves that no matter which field you opt for your higher studies, if you can work hard and dedicate yourself completely, you can definitely ace the examination. |

Re: Should I take commerce or science? I want to become an IPS officer
Hi,
If you want to become an IpS officer, you can chose any stream, because the eligibility for giving the upsc exam is that you should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized Indian university. And your age should be within the limits of 21-30 years. So, go for any stream you like because there's no compilation for giving exam in a particular field only |
