What is the criteria to apply for IES?
sir,
i m do'ng b.tech in chemicals so can i aaply for IES and whts the criteria for it.... |

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year. If you have completed engineering discipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam 1.Civil Engineering 2.Electrical Engineering 3.Mechanical engineering. 4.Electronics and Communication Engineering. If you have completed Engineering course from any discipline then also you are applicable for IES exam. You are doing your B-TECH degree in chemical engineering so you are eligible for IES exam but after completion of degree course. IES - INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE conducted by UPSC once every year. The candidates selected are appointed in the top technical post under various Dept. of Central Govt.
Only Graduate Engineers are eligible to apply for IES. The candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. exam or pass in any stream of engineering within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate, can apply for IES. There is a restriction to the number of attempts to IES. A General candidate can attempts 4 times to IES while OBC can attempt for 7 times and in case of SC/ST it is 9 attempts. Irrespective of any stream from which a candidate has taken B.Tech., he has to write the IES exam from Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics & Telecommunication branch only as per syllabus prescribed for IES. According to your mention information you are completing the graduation in chemical engineering field, then you don't worry you can apply IES exam, but you should be select the above mention branch subject. IES EXAM STANDS FOR INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE WHICH IS CONDUCTED BY UPSC. Eligibility;- Age Limit:- Age must be more than 21 years and less than 30 years. The upper age relaxation for SC, ST, Government servants is 5 years; for OBC is 3 years and for physically challenged is 10 years. Nationality:- The applicant must be citizen of India, subject of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugee, Indian origin who have migrated from selected countries in order to settle in India permanently. Educational Qualification:- Degree in Engineering, final year students can also apply on provisional basis. Basic eligibility criteria for IES is :
You must be an engineer from one of these branches viz, electrical, mechanical, civil , ece. So, you couldnt apply if you are from any other branch. As for age, eligible age is 21 to 30 yrs. Although relaxation are given to reserved categories. There is no limit on number of attempts , neither is any requirement for minimum marks in Btech Exam pattern : It consist of six exams, two objective, two subjective & two GS. After written, there is an interview for final selection. Overall vacancies are approx 500, of which approx 200 goes for electrical, rest for others. |
