To become a customs officer you have to apply for IAS/IPS exam which is conducted by UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission).

You can apply for IAS exam if you are Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university.

Age limit for IAS exam is 21 to 30 years if you are a general category and if you are SC/ST you will get 5 years age relaxation and for OBC it is 3 years relaxation.

The number of attempts are limited for general and OBC . For general it is 4 and for OBC it 7 times.

For SC/ST the number of attempts for IAS exam is unlimited till the age exceeds.

You have to pass the CSAT which is a Civil services aptitude test to qualify for Mains paper.

After mains interview will be taken . If your score is high on merit then you will get the desired post you wanted.

So start preparing for the exam if you want to succeed.

hi,
there is two ways to become a customs officer. one is by promotion from inspector of customs who will be appointed by the staff selection commission from which you have to opt for customs inspector in the application process itsle.f
second one is a junior IRS officer will be appointed as Customs officer in big customs houses like mumbai etc, and the IRS as everybody knows, will be confered by the coveted Civil Services examination conduted by the UPSC.
