Hello there,
I was wondering how to appear for the prestigious Indian Foreign Service exam.

i mean how should i proceed, also what sort of books should i refer for that.

Do i have to appear in prelim as a IAS examinee ? or something different?

can someone advice?

To join IFS Service you need to crack the Civil Service Examination. Civil Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Examination once in a year for recruitment into IAS, IPS, IFS, Railway, Custom, Income..etc. IAS Exam and IFS Exam both are same. Based on the ranking recruitment will be allocated. 2014 announcement was already released and last date for receipt of application application 30th June 2014. The Application forms will only be accepted online mode.

Eligibility Criteria :-

• Applicant should be an Indian Citizen.
• Applicant should be withing the age limit of 21-32 years as on 1st August of the year of examination.
• Upper age limits is applicable as per government norms.
• A maximum of three years for OBC candidates.
• A maximum of five years for candidates belongs to be a SC/ST.
• Applicant should have completed Degree course in any discipline from a recognized University.
• Applicants appearing for their final year examination are eligible to apply.
• Applicants are allowed to take up Six attempts for the examination.
