Biomedical engineering is different field in engineering. It includes the integration of science, medicine and mathematics. The biometric engineers should have strong foundation in the traditional engineering subjects like electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering. Any candidates who have pursued their higher secondary education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as the major subjects can join this course.

These engineers have a many career opportunities in government sectors, private sectors and even in abroad.

Career in Private sector after Biomedical Engineering

The private sectors in the country offer huge opportunities for the biomedical engineers nowadays. Most of them work with industries like medical equipment and supplies manufacturing. Many private companies that manufacture the things required in hospitals, research and development centers, diagnostic centers, etc. recruits the biomedical engineers. The huge intake of engineers in these industries is due to the growing demand of the medical devices. There are opportunities for them in teaching fields also.

Career in Government sector after Biomedical Engineering

The government sectors also recruits these engineers for many industries. Mainly they are employed in the medical equipment manufacturing and in government hospitals for handling, selecting and maintaining the complex medical devices. They are employed in various roles like

  • Product testing
  • Establishing safety standards for devices
  • Maintaining the devices

They also had career chances in teaching field in many universities and colleges. But for this the candidates with master degree are more preferred. The pay packages for them will be high compared to others.

Career Abroad after Biomedical Engineering

The biomedical engineers have got high demand in overseas also. Many jobs in various fields are available for these graduates. The hospital abroad mainly recruits them as clinical engineers. They control and maintain the whole databases of the clinical equipments. They help the physicians in handling these equipments for various uses. There are higher study options also for them in abroad. The candidates who have completed their graduation can opt for the Master’s degree and Ph.D in the foreign universities.
