In the modern lifestyle, we require objects that are lightweight, low cost, durable and occupy less space. Plastic objects provide all these benefits. Hence, modern industries are producing plastic goods. But for production of good plastic goods a good mould of the object is required along with good raw material and expert operation. Thus, under the aegis of CIPET, polytechnic colleges of India are providing diploma in Plastic Mould Technology to train experts in the sector of plastic producing goods.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate is eligible for Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology or DPMT if he or she has passed class 10 with Physics, Chemistry Math with minimum of 60% marks and a SSLC. The maximum age limit to apply for the course is 18 years.
Course Outlook
Diploma in plastic mould technology is a 3 year course offered in various polytechnic colleges of India. The course syllabus is divided into 6 semesters which is held every 6 months. In this course duration students are evaluated on the basis of practical examination as well as theoretical examination and marks are given on basis of Continuous Formative Assessment and End Semester Examination with equal importance to both. A Diploma holder can further go opt for higher education in the field.
Job Prospects
A plastic mould technician has opportunities in industries producing plastic goods like furniture, doors, tanks, profiles and similar items that require plastic mould and raw material. A good technician is awarded with better remuneration according to his experience and skill and with increase in plastic industries there is need of more technicians.
