Difference between Masters of Engineering (M.E) and Masters of Technology (M.Tech)
Masters in engineering is a postgraduate course that aims to teach students about the finer points in Engineering. This course has a period of 2 years. The Masters in Technology is also a postgraduate course. It is considered as one of the many valued degrees in India. The course extends for duration of two years.
M.E Course and Career opportunities
Students who wish to join the Master of Engineering course must have finished their Bachelors degree in the related subject with at least 55% marks. The admission of the students into the many universities in India is done by the Common Entrance Test (CET). For other major institutions in India, the entrance exam is the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). The jobs of the candidates are determined by their chosen field of study.
M.Tech Courses and Career opportunities
Students who desire to join the Masters of Technology Course should have passed the graduate degree in the related subject. Those aspirants who have cleared their MBA, M.Sc or the MCA courses are also eligible to apply for the M.Tech course. For joining this postgraduate course, the candidates have to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) entrance examination. This exam is conducted annually. The candidates are given admission to diverse colleges of engineering in India on the basis of their marks scored in the GATE exam. The chosen candidates will then have to appear for an interview in the respective universities or colleges. The candidates can find jobs with many leading companies in India. For example, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) employs students of M.Tech as research scientists or as engineers.
Key differentiators
The master’s course is basically an academic degree that is given to individuals who have done a study in a specific subject or a particular area of specialized practice. While Engineering can be called as the cause, technology can be termed as the effect that is implemented. Whilst engineering is the procedure of combining things to get a desired result, technology can be defined as the engineering that has been proven to have an output over and over once again.
