Procedure for the admission in the government engineering college.

If you are interested in the field of engineering then you can get admission in the engineering course after completing 12th class. For admission in the engineering college you need to appear in the engineering entrance examination like IIT JEE, AIEEE, Wbjee, ORJEE, KIITEE, VITEEE....and many other.

If you are want to get admission in the government engineering college then you can give IIT JEE, AIEEE and the home state engineering entrance exam. IIT JEE is the most famous entrance exam for the admission in the engineering course in the IIT college. Every year a large number of candidates appear in this examination to test their fate but seat is limited so competition becomes really hard.

You have one another option to get admission in the government engineering college. You can get admission in the government college through the home state engineering entrance exam because in the state government college those candidates are eligible who are residential of that state. So, this is the another option by which you can get admission in the government engineering college.

Different engineering entrance exam has different eligibility criteria. For IIT JEE you need 60% marks in the 12th class and for AIEEE you need 50% marks in the 12th class. You can get eligibility criteria on the official website of that entrance examination in which you want to appear.

if you are interested to join in government engineering college then you have prepare for entrance exam after your +2,
there are many exam conducted by different boards like.
AIEEE
STATE JEE
IIT
etc.........
for this you have to prepare well to get good rank because there are limited seat in gov. colleges according to your rank you will admission in colleges & your stream in which stream you want to read.

If you have a desire to pursue engineering,then you have to give some entrance examinations on the basis of whose ranking you will get colleges.The seats in the government colleges get filled as if like a house on fire.This means that you have to perform pretty pretty well in the entrance exam you will sit for.

Now you have option as to which entrance exam you will sit for.
Firstly,I will say that some entrance exams are designed on the basis of states,i.e; through those exams you can get only colleges belonging to that particular state.
Secondly,some are all india based.

Some exams you can opt for are:
IIT JEE (Minimum 60% in 10+2)
AIEEE(Minimum 60% in 10+2)
WBJEE(Minimum 50% in 10+2)
VITEEE(Minimum 60% in 10+2)
BITSAT(Minimum 80% in 10+2)
and many more.

So you can choose your choice of examination and can make a visit to that particular examination official webpage to know the more detailed view of the criteria.

There are a lot many engineering colleges all around the country. But only limited number of government engineering colleges.

There are about 15 IIT's including IT-BHU Varanasi and ISMU-Dhanbad. There are 30 NIT's and DTU under government engineering colleges.

These government engineering colleges take admissions on the basis of your performance in the entrance tests taken by IIT and CBSE board.

IIT students are selected through IIT JEE which is the most toughest and most desirous engineering entrance exam in India. Every year about 4-5 lakh students appear for the exam but due to limited seats about 13000 students are selected on the basis of their ranks.

NIT's and DTU take admission on the basis of AIEEE score card. About 27000 seats are available in all the NIT's for admission.

Minimum percentage in board exams required to get into IIT's is 60% and 55% for SC/ST. To gain admission into NIT's and DTU an aggregate of 60% is required in PCM.

Some of the above are private and some of them are government exams. You can choose any exam and apply for them after clearing it you can join in a certain engineering colleges.

There are several exams held all over India to get admission into Govt. colleges.
Following are the exams you can appear to go for B.E/B.Tech:-
1. IIT-JEE- minimum 60% in class 12
2. AIEEE-minimum 50% in class 12
3. Several State level Exams- minimum 50% marks in general. It may differ from state to state.

All govt institutes take admission on the basis of exams conducted under the state government(For state colleges) or central government(for national colleges).
You need to get through these exams to get admission in any of them .

Most of them does have a percentage criteria according to board result of 12th
which is normally above 60% on national level and 50% on state level.
