The Month of April and May are the most difficult periods in the students as well as the parents life, this is the month they have to take the important decisions. This is the month most of the exams are held and important results will get published. It is not only the sun which makes these months hot but they are suffered by the exams and the result too. The real fire-walk is for the Plus-two candidates. They are standing at a point where the decision taken during this time will define their future as well as the career.

Choose the right path

Choose the right path

On the hope of a better career and future most of the students take different competitive tests. The main preference is given for the Engineering and medical exams. We all read out in the newspaper recently that the All Indian Exams in Kerala Centers were delayed due to the question paper leak-out. We can analyze this is because of the incapable security system that our state Government provide, but there is also another angle which shows how desperate our society is with regard to acquire these qualification.

The Challenges faced at present is in making a decision which will not end with the selection of a course but till the selection of college as well. Because we have a lot of doors opened for taking up the desired course, but services they offered are very poor and this will influence the performance of the students also.  Hence choosing the right institute must be given greater attention too.

Engineering- Kerala Statistics

In Kerala we have around 40,000 seats available for the Engineering aspirants. The data shows that more than 1lakh people are appearing for the entrance test. This implies that it is not so difficult to get a seat for the Engineering program in Kerala. This is an advantage for the students, a little hard worked student can easily get a seat now, which is not the condition in the past, and an uphill struggle is needed to get into the desired program.

In Kerala most of the Engineering aspirants come under the first or second generation of engineers. Most probably they may be the first engineer in their family. This really put a lot of pressure and responsibility on students. They have to make the right decision and prove that they are right. Most of the parents may not be aware about the different programs in Engineering and best institutes in the field. They only need their children to be in a good institute and want to feel that they have done their duty accurately.

The Kerala Engineering and Medical Entrance Examination has the success ratio 1:2.5 that shows the exam is one of the easier one to crack, more easier than the lower divisional clerk exam having the ratio 1:15. So passing the entrance exam is not a difficult task for the aspirants. The aspirants who have passion for the engineering profession can simply get into the rank list. Most of us are think that the troubles are over after qualifying the exam. But no, the most difficult one is to choose a college from a long list of 120 colleges and also to take a right decision about the course, various combinations out of 500 options etc.

Which one is the right Door?

How to make the effective decision on this? Who will lead you and what is best for you? Unfortunately there is not much studies happening in this area and the students are making a decision according to the external force and present trends. Most of them are influenced by their friends or relatives. But you need to understand that these people have little risk on your career and future. Other people’s decisions aren’t meant for you. It is a onetime program and in future you won’t be proud for the mistake you made for listening to others opinion.

Anyway you have to spend Rs 2-8lakhs for the course and if you are taking any educational loan it also proves a liability in your future. You are not supposed to waste your time, effort and money for the wrong decision. Making mistakes are good only if you are sure to get a second chance. So it is the student’s accountability to choose the right path for them and never to hold responsible for the improper decision.

Open The Right Door of Opertunities

Open The Right Door of Opportunities

The first thing the students need to do is to carryout research on various colleges. You may have your own criteria like the location, budget etc. So study the colleges which suits properly to your norms. Now you will get a list of colleges and you will have to select the best from this. One should know the placement status of the college and also the pass percentage in the college.

You should also check with the quality of the teachers as well as the infrastructure. Make sure that the college is offering an apt learning environment for the students and supports the student’s requirements. You can match with the traits of the college and atmosphere with that of yours. If you got a positive feedback and are completely confident about the facility in the college then you can join for your degree. But keep in mind as not to be specific and fix on to a particular college, always keep number of options.

The students will face many other problems during the admission period. You should be aware of the time taken for the admission process and about the formalities involved in the engineering admission. So you need to register with the Centralized Allotment Process System and is required to give the rank obtained in the entrance exam. Before giving your options to the body one must be aware of the reasonable chances of your admission into a college and into a particular course.

Obviously most of the students made the decision of the stream before sitting for the exam, but you can have the final chance here. Make sure that your decision is perfect for you. Select a course if you are interested in that particular stream. It is not the trends, not the friends and not the future opportunities contributes your decision, it only your interest for learning the subject which will support your decision. Candidates have to keep this in mind and be aware of its importance, because it is your whole effort on studies going to waste.

If you are not able to do this properly, take professional help. Definitely this will charge a small cost, but not even close to what you will have to pay in future if it turned out to be a wrong decision.  So take this responsibility and act one this, no time is waiting for you.
