The North Eastern Hill University or NEHU offers admission to B.Tech (Information Technology) course through regular scheme as well as lateral entry. Diploma holders with a minimum of 60% marks are eligible for lateral entry admissions. Admissions are done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the lateral entry entrance test conducted at the University. Topics such as Programming in C, Data Structure & Algorithm, Computer Organization & Architecture, Computer Networking, and Operating Systems are mainly included under the syllabus of lateral entry entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech (IT) Lateral Entry Admission in NEHU

Diploma holders are eligible for lateral entry admissions in NEHU. This qualification must be obtained from a recognized institution with a minimum of 60% marks.

Admission Procedure for B.Tech (IT) Lateral Entry in NEHU

NEHU conducts a lateral entry entrance test for the admission process of suitable candidates. The performance of the candidate in the entrance test forms the basis of admission. Those who qualify the written test are asked to attend document verification process. During document verification process, the originals of the following documents must be produced before admission committee.

  • Date of Birth Certificate or HSLC certificate.
  • Degree Certificate
  • Employment certificate issued from Registrar’s Office, NEHU
  • Pass certificates of HSC
  • Pass certificates of SSC
  • Permanent Resident Certificate (for permanent resident of Meghalaya)
  • Valid caste certificate for SC/ST candidates issued by Deputy Commissioner (DC) or any other competent authority
  • Valid certificate for Person with Disability (applicable for PH Category Candidates only)

Candidates are given with admission are verification of original documents. The decisions of the admission committee in all matters of admission will be final.
