The detailed eligibility criteria for IES exam is given below:
1. The candidate's age must be within 21-30 years.(age relaxation- for SC/ST-5years and for OBC-3years)
2. The candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university.
There are 3phases of selection- Preliminary, Main and Personal Interview.
Although if the candidate is in final year of his studies then also he can apply. The only fact is that meanwhile he must have to complete his degree before appearing for the Main exams.

Indian engineering services exam only for some branch students so all branch

students cant give the entrance exam of IES.IES exam only for some core

branch students.SO you are eligible if you have any core branch.

Indian Engineering Exam (IES) is Union Public Service Commission is conducted to recruit engineers in streams like Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates who have passed B.E or its equivalent are eligible to apply. Those who are currently in their final year of B.E or B.TECH can also apply.

This examination is conducted by UPSC(UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION) every year,

Eligibility criteria for Indian Engineering Service exam:
Education qualification:
Candidate should minimum graduation degree in Engineering from a Mechanical/Civil/Electric Stream.
Age limit:
Age should be between 21 to 30 years.

Indian Engineering Service exam notification for this year:
Issue of application form from 25th Feb 2012 to 24th March 2012.
Exam will held on 15th June 2012.

Dear pal,
Union public service conducts Indian engineering service exam for admitting aspirants to the engineering services in India. To appear for the exam one must satisfy certain minimum qualification
1. The aspirant must have completed bachelor in engineering degree from a recognised university.
Also masters degree holders in radio science, physics are also eligible.
2. The general category aspirant is eligible to appear upto a age of 30. The age relaxation is five years for st and sc. And it is three years for obc and mbc. The aspirant must appear within this age limit.
3. Moreover the aspirants are restricted in their number of attempts. Maximum of 4 attempt for general category, 7 for obc and mbc. There is no restriction for the sc and st aspirants.
The exam will be conducted under the four basic disciplines
civil engineering
mechanical engineering
electrical and telecommunication engineering
electronics engineering

How to Apply : UPSC applications are available for Rs. 20/- at notified post offices all over the country. Rs. 100/- (rupees one hundred only) through central Recruitment Fee Stamp only shall be attached. There is a fee exemption for SC/ST/Female/PH candidates. Please mark exam code as ENGG and not as IES. IES means Indian Economic service. Be careful in this aspect.

Last date for application : Usually in the first week of March in year of conduct of examination (offline)
