Sure you can apply provided the score is of the 12th standard. You need to appear for the various entrance exam. Also there will be a physical check up. On clearing you need to undergo a 9 months presea training. Only will you be eligible to join as a deck cadet.

Yes you can apply for Merchant navy directly after class 12th board exam only for the post of a deck cadet. You require 60% PCM marks for taking exam to apply merchant navy.

For the higher posts you must acquire a graduation degree in some field related to engineering or science.
