Selection Procedure for PBOR in IAF
Central Airmen Selection Board (CASB) often carries out recruitment for Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR) positions in Indian Air Force. Selected candidates are appointed as Airman in technical/non technical trades. Recruitment process is conducted either on the basis of selection test or recruitment rallies. In selection test, one can expect questions on Reasoning, Physics, and Mathematics. Recruitment rallies conducted at different places will be notified to the candidate through newspaper advertisements. Selection will be done as per the decision of the selection authority after certificate verification.
Selection Procedure for PBOR in IAF
Selection Test
Male candidates who have completed 10 + 2 level with Physics and Chemistry as subjects can apply. Those who have completed three year diploma in specific subjects can also apply. Eligible candidates can appear for the selection test conducted at national level. The test pattern differs slightly for technical and non technical trades. For technical trades, one can expect questions from the following topics.
- English
- Physics
- Mathematics
In case of non technical trades, candidates are asked with questions from topics such as
- English Language
- Reasoning &
- General Awareness
Written exam is conducted in objective model, based on CBSE syllabus for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE). Candidate should qualify each section separately to get through the written test.
Those who qualify the written exam will be called for Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The physical requirements for each trade are different and candidates satisfying the same will be promoted to next level. Such candidates will be interviewed by a panel of Officers and Warrant ranks. Screened candidates at this level will undergo medical examination by the Recruitment Medical Team. The team examines whether the candidate is medically fit as per the requirements of Indian Air Force medical standards.
Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of 12 weeks. This training process will be given in Basic Training Institute (BTI), Belgaum. After successful completion of this basic training, candidates are given trade specific training for a short duration. Such candidates will be allotted to respective trades, as per the schedule decided. Selected candidates to the role of Airman will be promoted up to the position of Master Warrant Officer, with growing experience.
Recruitment Rally
Recruitment Rallies are conducted periodically at selected places. Advertisements on rally will be published in leading news dailies. Eligible candidates should report the venue, on the day of test with all necessary documents. Eligible candidates who perform well in the rally are selected after certificate verification.
