Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Indian Economic / Indian Statistical Service Examination for the recruitment of eligible candidates in to various grades.

Structure of UPSC Indian Economic / Indian Statistical Service Examination

The examination will be a written type carrying 1000 marks. 3 hours each will be allotted for each subject. The candidates should correctly answer majority of questions within the allotted time. Those candidates clearing the written exam will have to attend the viva voce by the Commission which carries a maximum of 200 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates to be eligible for attending the Indian Economic Service examination should hold a Post Graduate degree in Economics / Business Economics / Applied Economics / Econometrics. For attending the Indian Statistical Service examination, a master’s degree in Statistics / Applied Statistics / Mathematical Statistics is essential. Also they should be between  the age limit of 21 -30 years.

How to Apply?

Candidates can apply online through the webpage http://www.upsconline.nic.in. For this mode of application, the candidates are required to remit a fee of Rs.100/- (except for female / SC / ST / PH candidates). It has to be paid either in any branches of SBI, or through any online modes. Those residing in specified remote areas can also apply through offline mode  for which the application form can be obtained from the designated Post Offices by cash payment of Rs. 30/-. The completed offline application forms have to be sent to Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069 on or before the last date by post or speed post.

How to fill the Form?

The complete instructions for filling up the application forms are available in  the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Candidates are directed to read it carefully before filling the application forms so that the mistakes can be avoided. In case of offline applications, the candidates are required to fill it in their own handwriting. Also make sure that the signature provided in all the required places is identical.
