Difference between Cosmologist and Astronomer
Cosmologist conduct research related to the various astronomical principles. The research may be done to find out information’s relating to the origin of the universe, its structure and the likely changes that are expected to come in to the Universe at large. Cosmologist may be individuals who are interested to discover or expose the various mysteries surrounding these objects and their origin. Cosmologists make use of modern scientific equipments as part of their research job. Those who enter in to this profession should consider the research work as their passion and also should have ample interest towards the subject area of physics. Astronomers are called Astrophysicists. Astronomers conduct specific studies relating to celestial bodies such as stars, planets, galaxies etc. They get involved in studies relating to the changes that come about in the various celestial bodies even if they are minute changes. These scientists incorporate the various concepts in Physics and mathematics to conduct detailed studies about the particular object that they have chosen for research.
Cosmologist and Opportunities
The career opportunities related to cosmology are immense and having good scope. Basically, this profession involves the core area of research and hence the job profiles will also be in this area itself. The qualified professionals in this area will be employed in various Research laboratories, science centers etc. The qualified professionals can try for job positions mainly in public as well as private sector such as Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, space physics labs, space application centers etc. Apart from this, the candidates having higher qualification can teach in colleges or at the university levels.
Astronomers and Opportunities
There are ample career avenues for those engaged in the field of Astronomy. The job areas in case of the astronomers and Cosmologist are somewhat similar. The aspirants can apply for jobs in national research centers, museums, Planetariums etc. Opportunities for Astronomers also exist in space research organizations such as VSSC, space physics labs etc. In this research area also, those with higher level qualifications such as Post graduation or PhD can get in to academic profession. There are certain private non profit organizations such as Association of Bangalore Amateur Astronomers (ABAA) where in the astronomers can join.
Key Difference between Cosmologist and Astronomers
Cosmologist deals mainly with the study of cosmos. The studies are related to Earth as a whole with focus on its origin, expansion, possible changes that came about etc. Astronomers on the other hand deal with astro objects namely the stars, galaxies, planets etc. The job of Cosmologist involves incorporation of theoretical principles where as Astronomers mainly concentrates on minute observations.
