Make a career in electronics engineering
Electronics and communication engineering is an area of engineering which has been widely recognized as an important field among many students. When we observe in general the number of students who go on adopting this specialization at their graduate level studies is rising. What is the actual reason behind such a rise? Is it the mere interest of the students towards this engineering field or the job avenues that is waiting after completion of this course? This course is highly popular among the students in this year engineering admissions. Electronics and Communication Engineering relates to around one fifth of the total admissions in engineering.
The general scenario being that the candidates choose their specialization streams based on certain perceptions which prove to be wrong at some point of time. Most of the candidates take their career decision on the basis of the current trends prevailing in the industry or which are opted in majority by the other students especially toppers etc. This is a wrong initiative from the part of the students as a firm decision should be taken after evaluating ones strength and interest and not on other basis in general. A graduation in engineering in any stream will take a person to many heights more than expected. Some years back, it was the stream of Computer Science that was increasingly being adopted by the students but now the trend has shifted to the area of Electronics and Communication Engineering in general.
Electronics as a field helps in the increasing the productivity to many other sectors in general. This is a branch which finds solutions to many of the problems which are practical. This as an industry is undergoing many new changes in this area which help in higher job opportunities on a whole. Electronics as a separate stream includes the adoption of the features of various other streams. This is an area where some sort of software programming is involved. This is purely a technical field. Hence the job opportunities can be in any of these fields such as in telecom companies, software field or a network expert etc. Candidates who are creative enough to bring out new concepts – this career is the most suitable one.
Basic Requirements
The individuals need to have a graduation degree in Electronics and communication to become an engineer in this field. Most f the candidates go in for a BE/B.tech or a diploma in this area to get opportunities in this area. Those who have a desire for research in this area or for getting in to the field of academics should go in for taking post graduate degree in the said field. Only those candidates who have an adequate interest towards the subject area of science can only be successful in this area.
Throughout the academic levels a student should be bright enough to secure admission to these courses. The candidates adopting ECE as a major area should be a creative thinker who has an interest towards this area. The candidates should have an ample interest towards the science subjects in general to face this challenging career.
Career Prospects
The stream of Electronics engineering has ample job opportunities. The opportunities exist in various government and private organizations. The job opportunities involve in almost all the sectors in the country.
The candidates in electrical field can get employed in various government departments through direct recruitment’s. The notifications will be published in the newspapers or dailies. The vacancies involve where in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the IES engineering service examinations for recruitment in to various government organizations or departments.
The candidates also have opportunities in the defense sector where in the competitive examinations are held for the recruitment in to these services also. The electronics engineering graduates have can look in for the various job prospects in the divisions of defense namely the Indian army, Indian Navy and Indian military etc. Part from these, immense opportunities also exist in private organizations also. There is a demand for the electronics engineers in organizations and departments such as Central Electronics Ltd., Atomic Energy Commission, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Civil Aviation, Telegraphs Department, Indian Railways etc.
The significant factor regarding the electronics engineering field is regarding the future aspects of this course. The demand for the skilled professionals in this field will continue to grow on a large scale. Even though the most demanding course, another side is that it’s the most difficult course to get admission. Even if one person gets in to this field the candidate should have knowledge in this industry with strong base in the major science subjects in specific. The earning factor may be dependent on the basis of the candidates experience, skills and the interest towards the particular area. This is an area which has ample opportunities for research oriented activities.
The career choice regarding which stream in which specialization should be taken is the most important one. The candidates will not be ready to disclose regarding whether the areas which they have entered is not related to their interests. Once they get in to a stream they just want to complete it any ways and be free. India is a country which produces six lakh engineers every year. Majority of the candidates go on to pursue the Post graduation in the same field which will give them more growth opportunities. The PhD degrees are also taken by the candidates who are interested in the research field.
The candidates who make irrational decisions without thinking about the possibilities of employment will face difficulties in the long run. Currently the industry is going under many changes. Hence the universities and the educational institutions should train the candidates in accordance with the changing technological advancements that are taking place in the country in this field in particular. The future is bright in the field of electronics engineering hence people should be ready to cope up with it in all possible ways.
